What do you think of the 2010 Victory Cross Roads motorcycle?

I am thinking of updating my 2003 Honda VTX 1300, which I have ridden to Sturgis and elsewhere since new. Engine's a bit under powered and riding half way across the USA at 80MPH average with no 6th gear is ridiculous. My Ducati 996, on the other hand, is geared so tall you rarely can use 6th. Don't want to be another Harley guy either..........|||Thank goodness for people like molitor and ninebad, if it weren't for people like them setting everybody else straight, everyone would go out and buy a HD and make them the largest selling heavyweight bike in the US....oh wait, HD is the largest selling heavyweight bike in the US. Apparently everyone isn't listening to their close-minded gibberish.

To answer your question, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of the Victory, what does matter is what YOU think of it. Were it me, I'd check out a lot of the cycle magazine reports, who tend to me more or less unbiased. You might also check for any yahoo Victory forums, people there should be able to tell you of any shortcomings or things to look out for. Also keep in mind that regardless of who is giving the opinion, everyone is different both mentally and physically. A bike that fits me well and has a comfortable seat may cause you leg, arm and shoulder cramps and a debilitating case of monkeybutt before you use the first tank of gas. And just because one model of Victory is uncomfortable to you, that doesn't mean another one will be.

When it comes to the mental difference between people, remember that some people can tolerate or even like a loud exhaust note with lots of engine vibration while others like myself can't stand it. That means it doesn't matter how great the bike is and no matter what brand it is, if it's loud with engine vibration, I'd never buy it. And that includes BMWs, Ducks and everything else out there because yes, some of them are loud and vibrate.|||Being a harley rider with a few hundred thousand miles under my butt and have rode to sturgis several times and been known to go on a 9000 mile week long ride and i was going to choose another bike other than harley i would buy a victory in a heartbeat because on they are dependable they do look nice and they are balanced pretty good for a big ole big twin and they are more MADE not assembled in America than any other bike out there on the market .. You take the jap Taiwan china and korean and mexican parts off a harley and you don't have much bike left .. The triumph Rocket three would be my other choice and the ony guy i have talked to that has any miles on one loves the thing .. what is threre not to like about a bike that has 140hp and 140ftlbs of torque? And we have not been bombed by them yet ..|||All of the Victories have received excellent reveiws. They have exceeded Harley in quality while costing less at the same time. The only reason to buy harleys old 2 valve per cylinder technology is so you can say, "Look at me, I own a Harley." Plus, all the victories come with a 100,000 mile warrenty on the transmission.|||It may be a better harley, but it's still a harley clone, so why bother? Heavy, sluggish handling, low horsepower for it's size.

Get a real bike. A BMW if you want a change from a Ducati or a japanese sport tourer. There is a world of great bikes out there, but the vtwin crusiers are not in that world. If you like the look then get a real antique and have something, not yet another clone or reproduction.|||Ive heard good things about them. talked to a guy at my dealership that owns a victory vegas, he said its a great bike but the dealers are scarce. Dont know how the dealer support is where you are...

Triumph have good looking cruisers. Maybe you can put some bags on a rocket three if you are open to foriegn products.|||If I were a cruiser guy, which I'm not but if someone held a gun to my head and I had to choose I'd pass on the ubiquitous, universal Harley Sameinson and pick from the Victory lineup. Of course, being a grown up, my choice for long haul riding is a proper gentlemen's bike. BMW.
