Why is my fuel injected motorcycle backfiring when I give it gas? It a 04 victory kingpin 100ci motor?

I bought and rode home but now it started backfiring. I put 100% gas in it and it also doesnt like to start up without giving it gas until it warms up.|||Backfiring like you describe can also be caused by bad spark plugs, failing ignition coil, resistor plug caps that have built up too much resistance or bad plug wires. The first thing I'd do is install new plugs gapped correctly (not sure what that is on your bike.) If it still backfires, then you might want to consider checking out the fuel system.|||Sounds like either a fuel injector isnt spraying correctly, or theres a problem with the ECU mapping. It could be a number of things. A faulty sensor, like the IAPS (intake air pressure sensor), could throw off the ECU as well. You need to take it to a tech and have them look at it, theres no way to tell without running a full diagnostic, but if you want to run a quick check, look for anything that might be leaking air. Look at the airbox, and the rubber boots that connect the throttlebodies to the airbox, and the manifold, and make sure all connections are snug. Make sure no vacuum lines are loose, and that all the sensor wires are connected at the harness.

If this bike has aftermarket pipes, it may need a power commander to remap the fuel injection. The ECU cannot compensate for the change. If it already has one, then it probably needs a new map loaded.|||Sounds like the fuel wasn't as 100% as you thought or maybe it's just a coincidence that the fuel mapping for the throttle bodies went bad at that time.

Seems something has fouled the throttle value and making the bike run lean, thus the exhaust pop.

Pull the spark plugs and see how things are burning. If on the lean side, it's off to the shop for a clean-up.
